CLOVE
Clove is an aromatic flower spice used widely across various food and beverage applications. Originating in Indonesia, cloves are dried flower buds from the clove tree. They are a popular spice that people use in soups, stews, meats, sauces, and rice dishes. The rise in demand for herbal and natural products and medicines boosted the growth of the cloves market, due to the medicinal benefits of cloves, especially in developing economies. Cloves are one of the highly prized spices, widely recognized all over the world for their medicinal and culinary qualities.
Madagascar is the second exporter of clove. The major importers of clove from Madagascar are India, Indonesia, Singapore, and Malaysia. For India, Madagascar is the most preferred source for clove because of the bilateral trade treaty, where India gets the product without any import duty. In addition, Indonesia primarily imports clove from Madagascar to be used in the production of clove cigarettes.
